See you next year.

Lets say good bye to 2008 and drink lots of bubbles to welcome 2009.

National Salvation Army Praise and Prayer day (no bubbles of course).

Happy boxing day

Currently I'm reading the book 'The Drama of the Gifted Child: The Search for the True Self'. My teacher lend it to me once. It took me a long time to get to page 63 because I'm not familiar with a lot of phychological terms. I really had no idea what sisyphean meant.* Anywho, one passage striked me because it's so right and it's my life motto. During Christmas a lot of people commit suicide (or intend to). Hopefully these words from a cured patient with suicidal thoughts in the past can help you.

The world hasn't changed, there is a lot around me that is bad and evil and I see that more clearly than in the past. But nonetheless, for the first time I think life is really worth living. Maybe because I have the feeling for the first time in my life that I'm living my life. And it's an exciting adventure.

A quote from a patient of Alice Miller Ph.D

*An adjective meaning that an activity is unending and/or repetitive. It could also be used to refer to tasks that are pointless and unrewarding.

Merry Christmas everyone

Hopefully we don't feel the urge to kill each other this year. Too tired to blog. Worked all morning and took a long stroll on the beach with two colleagues. After the walk we drank hot cocoa with whip cream. Gah, I've spent my well earned money on an overpriced drink. Well, at least I had fun.:) If you see a blue person running on Vlieland tomorrow, it's me.-_- I miss everyone on the main land. 11 days to go.

Sinterklaas 2003

In my family it's a known fact that I'm not fond of getting Winnie the Pooh stuff. I don't hate the little guy. I like the original version much better and I only bought a book with rhymes about him once. I guess my grandmother saw the book and thought I was a Winnie the Pooh fan or whatever. It was around a time that it was ok for mature women to walk around with cute kiddie stuff. My grandmother kept on buying Winnie the Pooh stuff like till she got the clue from my aunt and uncle.
Every year on this day we celebrate Sinterklaas. He's the original version of Santa Claus or as we call him in marketing terms, the Coca Cola version of Sinterklaas. Instead of a suit Sinterklaas wears a dress and a pointy hat and he's holding a golden stick. His possy are zwarte Pieten (black Pete's). For ages there was a contraversy about this guy, cause he was black and Sinterklaas is white. So the black community was angry and said the Pete's were slaves of Sinterklaas. Gah, they even tried to paint those Pete's in blue and purple but that was just stupid. Anywho, Sinterklaas' birthday was yesterday and today we celebrate some kind of secret santa. You pick someone and the most fun part is the package. You need to make a package that represents the one you picked. So my cousin asked what I wanted for Sinterklaas. I said, anything but Pooh. And this is what my uncle W made for me.

Yup, the snails were still on the grass. I digged up and killed Winnie the Pooh. Besides the package you also need to write a poem. In my poem it said something like this. Poor little Pooh, he only tried to be your friend. Suddenly you decided to move on without him. My present was inside Pooh. His weak spot was his crotch.xD Only my uncle W can think of these stuff. The rest of the presents were packed in Winnie the Pooh themed wrap paper and the parts with Winnie they covered with other characters. I love my silly family.:)

I'm going to see them tomorrow in Amersfoort en after that I will go to the South to see my parents and visit my church on sunday.

God bless.

Hitchhiking

How to hitchhike:
1. Decide where you want to go to.
2. Buy food and drinks for one day.
3. Pack light. Most of the time you are waiting for someone to pick you up. Don't expect everyone will pick you up and don't accept every ride. Not everyone has good intention and yes some people drink while driving. So as long if it's not neccesary, you can leave the stuff at home.
4.. Cut out some big cardboards and write on one of them your destination.
5. Write down the cities on the way to your destination. Most of the time you won't find a car that goes to your destination. It's good to know your options. The best way would be buying a map of the country. That's why you need other cardboards. Always comes in handy.
6. The chance someone will pick you up in the middle of the city is very small. Figure out which road goes to the highway you need. For good hitchiking spots in The Netherlands I always check the list on http://www.franknature.nl/hitchhike/hitchhike.htm (even Landgraaf, the small town where I used to live, is on the list).
7. Stand a few meters in front of the high way. Standing on the high way is prohibited and very dangerous. Also don't stand on the areas where the cars accelerate.
8. Point your head in the direction of the cars heading to the highway ( so your back is pointing to the highway) and stretch your right arm and point your thumb up.

This way is wrong cause I didn't stretch my arm. By the way, I just got a ride from a painter from Utrecht to Weert. I just wanted to promote his company.

A good position but a bad place to hitchhike. I was already in Valencia by the way. And no, I didn't hitchhike to Valencia cause Spain isn't that open for hitchhiking yet.
9. Look drivers in the eyes and smile.:)

Happy hitchhiking!!! ^^

Got a ride from Leusden to Steenwijk in a crane.xD The driver kept on telling me not to accept every ride. Not all people are good.

I never felt scared on the road. Once a police officer called us back because we were to close to the high way. A lot of people offered us food and drinks. Most of the people who offer a ride used to hitchike when they were young themself or are truck drivers who want some company. Not all people are bad. And it's all about attitude, motivation and patience. I do always pray for God's permission. If something doesn't feel right, I don't do it. It's not about saving money. It's about learning something new and take roads other people don't take. I'm not planning to hitchhike my whole life. I heard from Majka a mother hitchhiked with her daughter when she was old enough. That's so awesome.
I might hitchhike to Munich or back to The Netherlands or maybe both ways this weekend. If I won't survive it, I can always use this old video I made for my parents if something goes wrong on my travels.=P
