I'm the master of quiz universe / open dag De Harmonie

Living in a city has its benefits, there is always something going on. It took me some years to build up some courage to go out on my own. You know it's not easy to mingle with strangers in public when you are alone. But in time you will see it doesn't matter to go out solo. I mean I wasn't attached to my friends at birth, I do have a life beside them. You hardly see anyone having dinner by themself in a restaurant (fast food restaurants don't count -____-) because it's a taboo to go out alone. Stupid actually. I should try it out sometime, try before I die. I don't mind what other people think of me (I guess I will end up like one of those crazy cat ladies :/).

Anywayz, I'm halucinating again.:D I went to the season opening of the biggest theater in my city, 'De Harmonie'.


There were previews from orchestras, musicals, dance shows, free ice cream. You name it, they had it. There was even a mobile shooting gallery.:D

Vandaag ging het theaterseizoen van 'De Harmonie' (een groot theater in Leeuwarden) van start. Er is aan iedereen gedacht. Previews van theatervoorstellingen, dans, muziek en ijs voor de kids (en grote kids). Er was zelfs een schiettent.:D

There was also a theater quiz to promote the website www.theaterencyclopedie.nl (an encylopedia about the subject theatre). I was all by my own so I searched for a partner. His name was Theo and Theo and I have won first place. Yay! Both two tickets for a theatre show plus dinner for two. We had 18 out of 21 questions right. Second place had 15 questions right. Quite fanatic theatre groupies. They knew a lot of anecdotes about actors. The team who won third place were quite cheaters cause they used their mobile phone to surf for answers. But after all, the human brain won against the internet. Mwoahahahaha!

Er werd ook een quiz gehouden ter promotie van de website www.theaterencyclopedie.nl (een website van het T(heater) I(nstituut) N(ederland)). Ik was trouwens alleen dus ik vond een quiz partner in Theo. Hij wist veel over theaterproducties en ik over acteurs en muziek. We wonnen de eerste prijs! We hebben de buit gesplitst. Ieder twee kaartjes voor een theatervoorstelling en eten en drinken van 'De Harmonie'. Ik heb ook nog gratis diner voor twee van Holland Casino maar dat is een verhaal voor een andere blogpost.;) De derde prijs ging naar een groep die eigenlijk vals speelden met hun mobieltje. Maar het is maar weer eens bewezen, het menselijk brein reageert toch sneller dan (mobiele) internetverbinding.:D T-Mobile zeker.;) De tweede prijs ging naar een team vrouwen die eigenlijk hadden moeten winnen. Ze wisten zoveel over theater en volgens mij waren ze naar alle theater producties geweest die zijn uitgebracht.

Ow, our team name was 'buurman and buurvrouw' (my choice). You can see two puppets on the picture. They are from a Czech stop-motion animation called Pat and Mat. I think The Netherlands is the only country who doesn't call them by their names (they are called buurman en buurman in The Netherlands). Buurman en buurman means neighbour and neighbour in Dutch. I was holding the leaflet with Pat and Mat in my hands and Theo and I were sitting next to eachother, basically neighbours.:D But I'm female and the dutch word for female neighbour is buurvrouw. So that's why. I know I'm simple.;)

Anyway, de naam van mijn team was buurman en buurvrouw. Ik snap moderne kunst niet en ik heb het niet zo op musicals dus ik ga meestal op theaterproducties af die wat kinderlijk zijn. Nijntje de musical of zoiets. Ik nam daarom het theaterprogramma voor kinderen mee.XD Ja ik weet het, ik ken geen schaamte. Maar daar stonden buurman en buurman op en ik zat dus naast mijn (tijdelijk) homie Theo. Pratically mijn buurman en aangezien ik vrouwelijk ben, werd het 'buurman en buurvrouw'. Ja ik weet het, ik denk heel simpel. Maar hey, daarmee hebben we wel de eerste prijs gehaald. En ik heb weer gratis eten.;)

De catering bij De Harmonie is trouwens top. Ik had bij de rondleiding achter de schermen al een voorproefje. Beter gezegd voorproefjes (nom, nom, nom). Hey come on, de kok zei zelf dat we niet zuinig aan moesten doen.

100 years of fashion, 100 years of feminism / 100 jaar mode, 100 jaar vrouwenemancipatie.

To me this video also shows the history of feminism. In the Netherlands women have fought over more than 100 years for equal rights. Before 1957 Dutch women were ought to stop working after they were married. Since 1991 spousal rape was a crime. And less than three decades ago, women were allowed to have their own bank account in The Netherlands. In the past one thing was for sure. You were getting married. I'm happy I have the choice to marry whoever I want or to be single. Being married or single doesn't define a person's succes or failure. The end of the video shows the modern western woman. Men were always our source of protection and income but now we don't need them to be who we want to be. First develop your own strong you and maybe then find your partner who sees you as his equal and lover and not as an object.
Is deze video ook niet de geschiedschrijving van de vrouwenemancipatie? Nog geen 30 jaar geleden verkreeg de Nederlandse vrouw het recht om haar eigen bankrekening te openen. Voor 1991 was verkrachting binnen het huwelijk niet strafbaar. Het huwelijk maakte van een vrouw tot het jaar 1957 automatisch handelingsonbekwaam met andere woorden de man had de broek aan in huis. Gelukkig mogen wij vrouwen al een aantal decennia een broek dragen. En hebben wij de keus of we werken of kiezen voor het moederschap. Een combinatie daarvan mag ook. Het einde van de video vat het mooi samen. Jaren lang waren wij afhankelijk van de man. Een vrouw zonder man is niet desperate of ongewild. Zelf eerst gelukkig worden en dan misschien jouw maatje vinden die je ziet als gelijke en geliefde en niet als een object.

In the past women have fought for our current rights. So let us not judge other cultures and religions. A moslim woman with a hijab is not inferior to a woman who listens to the fashion industry who dictates her what to wear. Because wearing a hijab takes more courage than buying a brand name bag with a € 500,- price tag on it. The latter is not luxery. It's replacing your inner emptiness with material stuff.

Vrouwen in het verleden hebben hard voor onze huidige rechten moeten vechten. Laat ons niet oordelen over een ander cultuur of geloof. Een moslima met een hidjab is niet minder dan een vrouw die zich laat voorschrijven door de mode-industrie. Want een hoofddoek dragen in een doorgeslagen westerse wereld heeft meer moed nodig dan € 500,- uitgeven aan een tas met een label.

Eetcafé Spinoza

If you happen to be in the city of Leeuwarden and you live on a shoestring. But you don't want to eat at Mac Donalds with your lady love for the 3rd time in a row. I suggest you to hurry to 'Spinoza'. They have a affordable 3 course menu for € 19,95 But if you have a small appetite I suggest the 'stadshap' (city bite) for € 7,95. Afgelopen dinsdag was het noodweer in Nederland. Een goed moment om uit eten te gaan. Voordeel, geen overvolle restaurants. Ik had nog bonnen van Voordeel Vinden voor eetcafé Spinoza. Ik had veel over de mooie binnentuin gehoord en was zeker van plan om op een mooie zomerse dag daar te eten. Helaas, zomer 2011 was zeer nat. Ik zag tijdens het dineren een aantal paraplu's buiten hangen voor de gasten. Wat attent. Er is aan alles gedacht. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het of ze bij het interieur op safe hebben gespeeld, bruin en waxinelichtjes.

Maar zoals het vaak in het leven gaat, het leven is een avontuur, kijk verder dan je neus lang is. Bij de trap naar het toilet hangt aan het plafond een wegbewijzering. Met pijlen naar het toilet, restaurant, voordeur uitgedrukt in centimeters. Dat vind ik humor.:) Ik weet dat ik het over eten moet hebben maar complimenten voor het toilet. Er hangt een heuse passpiegel op het damestoilet. Ik ben klein van stuk dus ik kom meestal nog net boven de wastafel uit. Spiegels zijn zeer belangrijk voor vrouwen. Het is dan ook een ongeschreven regel dat een vrouw zichzelf checkt bij elk voorwerp waar ze haar eigen reflectie in ziet. De bediening was attent en de keuken was snel. Geen wonder, we waren daar al om 17:00 uur. Ik kan wel doorgaan met complimenten maar ik moet streng zijn. Ik wil niet zeuren ... lange pauze ... de muziek. De Back Street Boys?????? Zowat de hele repertoire van Celine Dion?

Voordeel Vinden is handig voor als je een restaurant beter wilt leren kennen. Het laagdrempelig. De meeste restaurants bieden wel het goedkoopste a la carte menu aan. Wij mochten dit keer kiezen uit het 3x3 menu, welke ook op hun website staat. Ook complimenten daarvoor. De website is zeer toegankelijk, duidelijk en up-to-date. Er staat zelfs een interview op met een leerlingkok. De prijzen staan ook op de website dat vind ik ook altijd fijn.

Ik begon met dungesneden Spaanse serranoham met ananaschutney en slabouquet (de annaschutney is overheerlijk).

Mijn hoofdgerecht bestond uit rolletjes bot gevuld met zalm en paprika. Ik moet eerlijk zijn, ik vond het niet echt veel smaak hebben. Ik heb het meeste aan het gezelschap gevoerd, die eet alles.

Het toetje was bavarois van sinaasappel en aarbeiengelei (ik vond het naar rosé smaken) en slagroom.

De theezakjes zaten in een kartonnetje in de vorm van een boek. Als de thee getrokken was, kon je het theezakje in het boekje terug doen. Elke smaak had een eigen verhaal. Legends of tea.

Wat ik ook leuk vind van Spinoza, is dat ze met de tijd mee gaan. Ze zijn actief op social media en promoten zichzelf met verschillende actie's.

The best songs and cartoons are from the eighties. Period. I love the cartoon series Jem. Back then I didn't understood the love triangle. I was just 5. I just started to understand English you know. I'm really happy Shout factory will release a first complete collector's edition on October 11 2011.:) Maybe someone will give it to me on my birthday.*big fat wink* I don't want to sound like I'm the center of the universe but I truly believe they are singing about me. They just misspelled the name.;)

I didn't really like the show for the story line. I only watched the show because I liked the songs, I still like them. For example whenever I need to get something done or need to find something, I think of the next song.

I also luv the song 'Time of the Season' from The Zombies. Especially this version. One day I will be as bold as her and sing to a guy. "What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich like me?" For now I will have to win the lottery cause I'm only rich in third world countries.

Whenever I hear the next song I think of this quote in the movie 'Pretty Woman'.

Vivian: People put you down enough, you start to believe it.

Vivian: The bad stuff is easier to believe. You ever notice that?

I need to confess something. I was in a brass band when I was kid. Yup, I know how to play the clarinet. So that's why I think the next performance is so awesome.

If you haven't seen the movie Rio I advice you to see it. It's so colourful and happy. I normally hate it when they start to sing in cartoons but the whole movie I was tapping my feet. The next song is Nigel's song. He's so evil, I love it.:D I also blame everything on seaguls after I saw the movie.

De Nederlandse versie is ook master. "Ik ga je dissen man." XD
