Amsterdam Fashion Week

From Friday 17 to Monday 27 January, 2014 the 20th edition of the Amsterdam Fashion week will take place. Dutch designers and brands will show their collection to the fashion world. A world that has been overtaken mostly by the corporate world, selling superficial fashion for lots of money. Personally I think Amsterdam Fashionweek is more accessable to the common people. Most of the Dutch designers I know are really down to earth, they really take time to have a little chat with fashion lovers.

You don't have to be a fashionista to understand fashion. For me fashion is art, mostly the result of a creative journey. Unfortunately I don't own a Viktor & Rolf but I did own a piece from, another former Artez student, Aziz Bekkaoui.

I really loved the fabric. I was told he is a former ballet dancer, he does use his knowledge of dance in his creations. I really felt elegant in his shirt and I never felt I couldn't move freely in his creation.

Aziz Bekkaoui will be opening the Amsterdam Fashionweek on January 23 -2014.

For the fashion lovers who don't have access to the catwalk shows, don't worry, Amsterdam didn't forget about you guys. In addition to the catwalk shows, AFW celebrates its tenth year with 10 days downtown. You don't need to be a fashion model to join the expositions and parties. I'm looking forward to the Friday night event at the Van Gogh museum, dancing between the paintings of one of my favourite artists.

Nam Kee at the Zeedijk in Amsterdam is my number one location to eat Peking Duck. Unfortunately for me, 'team Nam Kee' is growing. Today Nam Kee won best Chinese restaurant of the year (in The Netherlands that is).  For more information check the website www.bestechineserestaurant.nl

Vandaag werd er bekend gemaakt dat Nam Kee aan de Zeedijk in Amsterdam, de beste Chinese restaurant van Nederland is. Check voor meer informatie de website www.bestechineserestaurant.nl

My favourite dish is called after my favourite meal of the day, siu yeh (late night snack). Nam Kee is like Burger King, everybody knows what's on the menu, the service is quick, the interior is hidious but you get a lot of bang for your buck. I went to Nam Kee way before the budhist temple was in China Town and way way before the movie 'Oysters of Nam Kee' was released.
Dit betekent dat ik harder voor mijn favoriete gerecht siu yeh fan moet vechten. Ik ben kind aan huis bij Nam Kee, ik ging er al eten toen ik nog ukkie was. En al jaren voor de film 'Oesters van Nam Kee'.

But recently I discovered something 'disturbing'. Maybe so disturbing I might be banned from Nam Kee forever for publishing the pictures of my recent discovery.
Lof en eer voor de beste Chinese Chinese restaurant van Nederland, maar toch kwam ik tot de schokkende ontdekking dat het niet altijd pluis is bij Nam Kee. Kijk en oordeel zelf.

Maar dat zou te cliché zijn. Ik ga voor de foto waarbij iedereen vroeg, "Waarom neem je nou een foto van een vrachtwagen?"

I know the picutre has a massive image noire, duh.
In de foto zit natuurlijk ruis van hier tot Tokio, dus winnen ga ik zeker weten niet. Of de jury moet gevoel voor (mijn) humor hebben.
